Brand new iPhone 5 rumours
Although we were excited about the iPhone 4S when it launched, here at Store-Orange we all thought that Apple were going to announce an all-new iPhone 5. And now we have evidence to suggest that the real iPhone 5 is coming!
When will the iPhone 5 on Orange be available?
At this stage we only have rumours to go on, but it looks as though Apple could gear up the iPhone 5 for a June 2012 launch. Foxconn, the company responsible for mass manufacture of a number of Apple products, have started a hiring drive, reportedly after another 20,000 employees! This means that Apple could be gearing up for a big product launch in the not-too-distant future!
Evidence of the iPhone 5
On 29th November 2011, MacRumours discovered references to some new products in the operating system code. One is labelled "iPhone5,1" - a definite upgrade from the iPhone 4S which was labelled as "iPhone4,1" in similar Apple documentation.
The anticipation of a new Apple launch would not be complete without a few conceptual designs - check out these latest from ADR Studio.

If you're anything like us here at Store-Orange, you'll be eagerly awaiting information about the latest iPhone 5 from Apple!
So to keep you going until we hear some official news, we've rounded up the latest news from the iPhone 5 rumour mill, so you can get excited about the iPhone 5 on Orange.
The suspected release date for the iPhone 5 on Orange is October 2011, based on previous iPhone release behaviour and leaked documents from Best Buy USA. The document suggests that the iPhone 5 will be available on the 21st October direct from Best Buy. Previous iPhone launches would lead us to believe that the iPhone 5 will launch across retailers at the same time, so October 21st is a good bet.
Latest News on the Release Date: Orange France's CEO Stephane Richard has suggested a release date of October 15th for the iPhone 5 on Orange. This has not been confirmed by Apple.
Japanese site Macotakara suggests production on the iPhone 5 has commenced as of the 5th September 2011, so this gives weight to a suspected launch at the end of September/early October. We can expect the retail date to be sometime after.
Latest update: Apple have confirmed an iPhone announcement for the 4th October entitled "Let's Talk iPhone".
iPhone 5 on Orange: What We Think We Know...
The iPhone 5 will most likely launch running iOS 5, the latest Apple operating system for its mobile devices. iOS 5 will make the iPhone 5 completely independent from your computer if you want it to be! You'll also get iMessage - an instant messaging service allowing you to instantly chat online to your friends with iOS 5 devices! iOS 5 places a camera button on your lock-screen, and an easy way to take pictures using the iPhone 5's volume rocker. There's a whole lot more features included in iOS 5 for you to check out - and we're pretty sure all of them will appear on the iPhone 5!
Rumoured Specifications:
LTE - whilst not strictly relevant to the iPhone 5 on Orange, The Register are reporting that the iPhone 5 will also come in an LTE variety, ready for the USA networks. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution, and is 4G technology. The UK does not have 4G networks in place at this time, so we will not see this particular feature on the Orange iPhone 5.
Faster Processor - It is almost certain that the iPhone 5 will sport an all-round upgrade compared to the iPhone 4 - including rumoured better cameras and more impressive HD video recording. One of the more concrete rumours is that the iPhone 5 will sport an A5 dual-core ARM processor. As this is already in use in the iPad 2, we think you'll see the same thing on the iPhone 5.
NFC - it has been widely reported that the iPhone 5 could double as a digital wallet, supporting Near-Field Commmunication technology (NFC) to allow you to pay for items by swiping your phone across a reader. A leaked screenshot showing an "e-wallet" app visible on the iPhone 5 homescreen makes it seem that this rumour is quite likely. However, The Independent have cited sources that refute this rumour, so we may not see NFC on the iPhone 5 on Orange.
Screen - Most compelling about previous generation iPhones have been their groundbreaking design. We expect nothing less from the iPhone 5, and if the rumours are to be believed, Apple have got a few more cool tricks up their sleeves.
Aside from screen size (rumoured to be 4 inches) and screen resolution (hopefully even better than the iPhone 4), the iPhone 5 looks set to have touch-sensitive buttons and indicators populated around the screen: a true shake-up in Apple's design. We can't wait to see it!
Antenna - One pretty cool rumour suggests not only that the iPhone 5 will have a sleek metal backing, but that the actual antenna for the iPhone 5 will be contained within the Apple logo itself! Considering the problems that Apple faced regarding signal when the iPhone 4 launched, we reckon Apple are sure to have paid special attention to the antenna on the iPhone 5!
iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S?
Rumours reported in the early part of this year made the suggestion that the iPhone 5 will in fact be known as the 4S. This followed spectulation by respected industry analysts that the new iPhone would not sport a significantly new redesign. However, general consensus at this stage in the day is that "iPhone 5" is far more likely, especially in light of the imminent release of iOS 5.
Two New iPhones?
Some rumours suggest that Apple are aiming to target the mid-range of the smartphone market, in addition to dominating the top end. Suggestions surround a stripped-down iPhone, with a more limited range of features to make it available at an intermediate price point. We now have more concrete evidence of the iPhone 4S direct from Apple! And one member of Apple's Board of Directors suggested that two iPhones will indeed be announced on Tuesday 4th October! So we can only hope that a budget iPhone 4S is coming to Orange!
